Basic Homemade Granola

A basic granola recipe that gives you the freedom to turn your breakfast into anything you want. Make great granola every time without eating the same thing over and over.

Dry ingredients

  • 3 cups oats (gluten-free optional)
  • 1 cups seeds or nuts*
  • 1/2 cup dried fruit**
  • 1/3 cup raw sugar (optional)

Wet ingredients

  • 1/3 cup oil
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup or honey
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 3 tbsp fruit juice (optional, otherwise more water)


  1. Preheat oven to 300°F/150°C. Line one baking sheet with a baking mat or baking paper.

  2. Mix all dry ingredients together in a large bowl.
  3. In a medium sized bowl, combine oil, maple syrup, water and fruit juice (if using). 

  4. Pour wet ingredients over dry ingredients, stirring until all of the oat mixture is moistened.

  5. Spread the mixture in the baking sheets, pushing it down with your hands or the bottom of a cup.

  6. Bake for 15 minutes, then remove from the oven and press it down once more for extra chunky granola. Flip the mixture over using a large spoon or spatula.

  7. Continue baking it for another 20-30 minutes or until golden brown, flipping and stirring the mix every 10 minutes to ensure even baking

  8. Store in airtight containers. If you used fruit juice, store granola in the fridge, otherwise you can also keep it in the pantry. It will stay good for about 3-4 weeks


* You can mix and match as you desire.
** For example banana chips, shredded coconut, raisins, cranberries, dried apples or tropical fruits.
